OUR STORY

It started with spring cleaning.

Des Moines' only toy library — built by a family who believed there was a better way to play.

"I looked around my basement and realized my kids' toys had completely taken over. I'd spent so much on high-quality, educational toys over the years — and most of them just sat there. There had to be a better way."

— Robin, Founder of FrogFun

HOW IT STARTED
A basement, a radio story, and a plan

Robin was sorting through a basement overflowing with toys — good toys, expensive educational toys her kids had loved and then outgrown. Selling them felt like giving up. Throwing them out felt worse.

Then came the NPR story about Rutabaga, a toy library in Philadelphia. Families borrowing and returning toys the same way you'd borrow a book. Robin turned off the radio, went home, and told the kids: we're doing this.

In September 2025, FrogFun Toy Library opened at 8350 Hickman Rd in Clive — Des Moines' very first toy library, built by a family for families.

OUR VISION
Kids need variety. Families need a break.

Kids don't need more toys. They need different toys — fresh challenges, new puzzles, something that sparks curiosity all over again. And families don't need the debt, the clutter, or the guilt of toys gathering dust.

First and foremost, we believe in FUN for all ages. FrogFun exists so every Des Moines family can give their kids the joy of variety — high-quality, educational, sustainably shared toys — without the cost of owning them all.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Three things we care deeply about

Sustainability

Borrowing instead of buying keeps good toys in circulation and out of landfills. Every swap is a small act of community over consumption.

Accessibility

A flat monthly membership means any family can access premium educational toys — not just the ones who can afford to buy them all.

Community

We're building a community of families who believe in the power of play. When families share toys, stories, and recommendations, everyone benefits — and kids get richer, more varied play experiences along the way.
